It was so unbelievably special to get away on vacation with my husband, Braxton last week. Ever since I went to Europe last summer with my best friend, I have not stopped talking about how badly I wanted to get back over there and create some memories with him. After doing some research, we decided that Greece would be the perfect getaway for us. We spent 10 days in Greece and I can’t wait to share all the great memories of our trip. We started in Santorini, which was probably the most breathtaking island I have ever seen. All the blue and white….pictures truly do not do it justice!

Below are a few of my favorite photos and suggestions from Santorini:

We stayed in the small town Oia, which is the most famous of all the villages in Santorini. It is known throughout the world for its quiet life and fantastic sunset. You cannot get a bad view in Oia. We stayed at the Stogili houses which was walking distance from all the shops and restaurants.

We thoroughly loved all the food in Santorini, but had to say our favorite was a rooftop restaurant called Sunsets Restaurant. This is the absolute best view to see the sunset in Santorini, and gets extremely busy so you will definitely need to make a reservation. They take their sunsets seriously in Greece, and you will be so happy to be high above the crowds at this roof top restaurant to see the sunset.

Crepes on crepes on crepes…. we overdid it with the crepes, but since there was not a ton of nightlife in Oia, we found  cafe’s that were open late for cappuccinos and crepes! Our favorite late night crepe spot was Nocturna Cafe, we were obsessed with the oreo crepes. Try one and you will thank us later…

Okay, so for my next suggestion, ladies you will need to start planting the seed in your significant others mind MONTHS beforehand. Who can resist a photo shoot in paradise?! I have a deep appreciation for capturing special memories through photography and knew I needed to find a photographer in Santorini, so I could treasure moments with my Husband from this vacation. I found Kimonas_photography on Instagram, and immediately fell in love with his work. I reached out to him to book a 30-minute mini session with my husband and couldn’t be happier with our photos!  Holy view= HAPPY WIFE! Kimonas was amazing and worth every bit of the 130 euro’s, plus he got my pictures back in 5 days! He knows the cool spots in Santorini and quickly moved us through several locations.

After the photo-session, I had some bribing to do for my husband…. and all he wanted was lots and lots of wine! We searched for wine tastings nearby and all were a minimum of 3 hours tours, and he needed something way quicker to get the job done. We found a great spot we could walk to from Oia called Domaine Sigalas. This winery had a Tuscany feel to it and there was no tour needed to taste the wines. We loved not being in a group for this tasting and just getting to sample the wines together. Santorini, is known for their white wines and rose’, the reds were not very good. Braxton, still managed to finish them off though… 😉

Excursions: We did the Sunset Dream Catcher Catameran Cruise, it was about 6 hours and included an amazing dinner. We were bummed to learn there were no fish to see when they let us off to snorkel, but it was still beautiful and a great way to see the island. We also got to watch the sunset on the water which was incredible!

  • Don’t forget to stop by the Kissing Fish Spa to get your dead skin cells removed by some fishes without teeth. It is 10 euro for 10 minutes and a really cool experience!

Next on our trip was Mykonos, which we were told was the party island! We didn’t do much partying or late nights in Santorini so we were pumped to experience Mykonos. When we got into Mykonos, I was surprised to find out how spread out everything on the island was and the different beaches. We stayed in Elia Beach in Mykonos  about 25 minutes from Mykonos town, (The place we found out we wanted to be.) I would recommend staying in Mykonos town as close as possible to Little Venice so you don’t have to rent a car.  Little Venice of Mykonos, is quite like the real Venice. You can enjoy a drink almost with your feet in the water and it is simply charming! I couldn’t get over all the beautiful flowers and the white washed homes. I could of stayed here forever…

Mykonos is popularly known for its summer party atmosphere. Beaches such as Paradise and Super Paradise have bars that blare house music until the sun rises…. however, we never made it to those main two party beaches. We spent our beach day at  Paraga beach, which was a bit calmer from the main party beaches. We loved this beach and ended up meeting other couples on their honeymoon, who we spent the rest of our time in Mykonos with.  The water was beautiful, and there was still some amazing people watching here and a great place to eat lunch called Nikolas Taverna.

If you are going to Mykonos with your family or kids I would recommend Elia Beach and staying somewhere near Elia beach to get away from the wild party scene and crazy beach parties!

Food in Mykonos: my favorite restaurants were: Casa Di Giorgio for an amazing Italian meal in Little Venice, Belvedere for amazing cocktails and sunset views, Venicia boutique hotel for dinner and look into staying here! The view and pool at this hotel can’t be beat! I can’t forget about the Crepes… again this is a necessity! I loved Crepeland, in Little Venice. We loved the crepes so much we even had them for breakfast!

We spent our last two days in Athens! We loved our hotel and its location in the city and would highly recommend staying at the Athens Tiare Hotel, it was very clean and updated. We signed up for the Athens Half-Day Sightseeing Tour. This was the perfect amount of time to be on a tour and took us to all the attractions of Athens. This was a guided tour of Athens and the Acropolis, the world’s first & only Olympic marble stadium, and the Acropolis Museum.  The tour ended in time to get more greek salads and a cappuccino. I could seriously eat this combo everyday!

Also, we loved trying the chicken souvlaki from the small shops on the street…  The french fries inside were the icing on the cake… I wish I would of taken a photo of Braxton double fisting a chicken and steak gyro in each hand, but he insisted that he was off the hook for pictures after the photo shoot in Santorini. 🙂

By this point in the trip we were exhausted, but had heard about this amazing spot all the locals go to called Six D.o.g.s. to hang out.  This was a beautiful beer garden with amazing cocktails and live music! We were in heaven….. Check it out if you are looking for something chill to do after a long day of site seeing!
